• Scientastic! Summer School Holiday Program (TSV)

Looking for fun things to do over the school holiday break? The Museum of Tropical Queensland will be bursting with show-stopping science performances and activities during the Scientastic! Holiday Program, running from 12 December 2015 to 26 January 2016. Aspiring scientists of all ages will find something to engage and entertain them during the program.

There'll be something for everyone’s inner scientist in the program – from interactive performances by national science show presenters Street Science, Big Bang Education and Fizzics Education, to hands-on science experiments.

Learning Activities Officer Claire Speedie said the idea for the holiday program came from the visiting blockbuster Measure Island exhibition. “We’ve seen a great response to Measure Island, so we decided to expand the fun and interactivity of the display with activities, craft and shows,” Ms Speedie said.

“The science shows and workshops from Street Science, Big Bang Education and Fizzics Education in particular will wow audiences. We’ll have different shows each week in January so locals will be able to come back for something new again and again,” she said.

“We also have a great range of family activities to entertain and educate, and some really cool craft activities so you’ll have something to take home,” Ms Speedie said.

Photographic Workshops and Community Day
During January,
the museum will also be hosting a week of photographic workshops with award-winning wildlife photographer and Canon Master Darren Jew, and in February 2016 the museum will once again celebrate science with a Community Day on 20 February.
