Outdoor Movie 'A United Kingdom'

There's nothing like sitting in the outdoors watching the movies under the stars. On Saturday 29 July the Magnetic Island Men's Shed presents “A United Kingdom.”
Starts: 7pm
At: Horseshoe Bay Recreation Club, on the outdoor screen.
Cost: $5 adult, $2 kids, $12 for a family (2 adults + kids).
• BYO chairs (some will be available, please bring some if you can.)
• BBQ available from 5.30pm. Meals $2.50 and $5 Soft drinks available.

A United Kingdom (PG 13)
The story of King Seretse Khama of Botswana and how his loving but controversial marriage to a British white woman put his kingdom into political and diplomatic turmoil.

In the late 1940s, Prince Seretse Khama of Bechuanaland is studying law in Britain in preparation for his eventual ascension to the throne. The prince falls in love with a white British clerk, Ruth Williams, and they plan to marry.

Now facing a citizenry leery of a white Briton as their Queen, the international opposition is even more unyielding from the British their land as a protectorate. Against all odds, King Khama and Ruth must struggle to maintain their love and help their people in a land that would become the Republic of Botswana.
