Automotive
Do you need your car serviced? There are a few businesses to choose from on Magnetic Island. Visit the MI Telephone Directory at

If you're receiving a discounted car registration on Magnetic Island, you'll need to apply for a permit to take your car off the island. Simply email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and they will email you your permit. Alternatively, drop into the MI Police Station between 9am-12noon Monday to Wednesday, and they will give you a permit while you wait.

Aged/Diabled Residents & Visitors
Magnetic Island Community Care provides services to aged and disabled residents and visitors of Magnetic Island. They also provide mobility and assistive equipment such as shower chairs to holiday makers if they need assistance. For more information view/download their MICare Service Users Handbook.

ATM's are located at, Picnic Bay Hotel, Foodworks Nelly Bay, Arcadia Hotel, and Foodworks Horseshoe Bay. EFTPOS is also available at most island businesses.

Bank
There is 1 bank on Magnetic Island - Queensland Country Credit Union, located at Nelly Bay Harbour shops (near the bakery).

Bakery
The Magnetic Island Bakery is located at the Foodworks centre, 55 Sooning St, Nelly Bay. You'll also find great bakery treats at IGA, Arcadia Store, Foodworks Nelly Bay, and many of the small island cafes.

Limousines: For that special occasion, tour or conference you can also hire a limosine to make your day complete.

Island Errands: A service for any random errands including to and from the Post Office, bakery, bottle shop, pharmacy, bank, small specific shopping lists etc. This is not a taxi service, and they do not carry passengers. Call 0478 080 924.

Mobile Library
If you need to catch up on some great reading, the mobile library visits Magnetic Island every Tuesday:

Time: 10am-3pm (Closed for lunch between 12-12.30pm)
At: Lions Park, Cnr Mandalay and Sooning Streets, Nelly Bay. (Next to the Nelly Bay Harbour marina and opposite the bakery).

Newsagent
The main newsagency, Arcadia News, is located opposite Alma Bay Park, next to the Hotel Arcadia bus stop.

Petrol Stations
There are two petrol (fuel) stations on Magnetic Island. Neither are open after hours, so remember to top up during the day!

Fish'n N Fuel'n, Mandalay Ave, Nelly Bay. Open: 6am-6pm
Arcadia Store, Bright Ave, Arcadia.
Open: 8am-6pm

The police station is located in Picnic Bay, although it unattended it diverts to Townsville.

Post Office
The post office is located in the Nelly Bay Harbourside shopping centre, on the corner of Sooning Street and Mandalay Ave.

Primary School & Daycare
Magnetic Island State School is located in Mandalay Avenue for primary school education and Magnetic Island Creche and Kindergarten is located in Sooning Street, Nelly Bay.

Public Swimming Pool
The Magnetic Island State School Swimming Pool is open to the public:
Monday to Friday: 6.00am - 7.00am and 4.30pm - 6.00pm
Saturday: 6.30am - 8.00am and from 3.30pm - 6.00pm
Sunday: 3.30pm - 6.00pm
Cost: Only $4 for a casual visit or $100 for a pool pass (valid from September 2018 to August 2019).
At: Entrance on Mandalay Avenue, Nelly Bay.

Magnetic Island Community Care (MICC) cares for the frail aged, those younger with disabilities, and carers in our community. It offers centre-based day care, social support, respite care, transport, counseling/support, information and advocacy, meals on wheels and domestic assistance.
