The Magnetic Island Open Day is this Saturday 3 May form 10am-4pm. It's a great day to explore our bays and enjoy exciting activities including FREE exhibitions, a sausage sizzle, FREE guided walks to see our koalas on The Forts Walk, and for history buffs, guided walks of The Forts by a local military historian. The weather is perfect too for one of our many bush walks (1-3 hours).

HOW TO GET THERE CHEAPLY & GET AROUND ALL DAY FOR FREE!
• BRING YOUR CAR ON FANTASEA CRUISING MAGNETIC
(up to two adults and three kids) for the special Open Day price of just $113 ($22.60 pp) return including your car, or the walk-on passenger price of $21 (Adult), $14 (Child) or $15.30 (Concession).

• SEALINK ferries are offering special discounted return tickets for the day of $20 (Adult), $10 (Child) or $15 (Concession).
• RIDE THE FREE HOP-ON-HOP-OFF BUSES* across the whole island from 7.30am to 6pm, running north to Horseshoe Bay and south to Picnic Bay. (Scheduled buses will also run, but at normal fares.) *Free buses are marked ‘OPEN DAY’.

From the ferry terminal pick up your pre-booked car from TROPICAL TOPLESS CAR RENTALS with your Sealink discount, or 20% OFF car hire from BEST OF MAGNETIC across the carpark. Alternatively stroll around the marina to the Nelly Bay shops, and buy some souvenirs from the POST OFFICE (open 9am - 11am) or something nice to wear from KOKO BLUE BOUTIQUE or MAGNETIC TOUCH, or call MASSAGE ON MAGNETIC on 0409 164 113 for a pamper session.

• 9.30am and 2.30pm: SNORKEL TRAIL GUIDED TOURS by Dr Rick Braley. Come and see our giant clams at TOBMI’s Snorkel Trail. Get a $5 swim card and identify our magical underwater world. Take the FREE Picnic Bay bus and stop at Base Backpackers.
• 9.30 - 4pm: Have a free try at OCEAN KAYAKING, courtesy of Adventurethon, from the beach in front of Base Backpackers.
• 10am - 4.30pm: Visit AMAROO ON MANDALAY, stroll through the gardens, view our wedding setup display, see resident artist James Robb artwork, swim in the pool or play a game of tennis.
• 11am - 3pm: BASE BACKPACKERS FUN DAY for music and $5 BBQ on the beach with drinks at bar prices.
• 12noon - 2.30pm: $25 SPECIAL 2-COURSE LUNCH at Peppers Blue On Blue Boardwalk Restaurant (next to the terminal) includes one drink.

• 10am - 3pm: MAGNETIC ISLAND HISTORY AND CRAFT CENTRE AND MUSEUM (next to the Police Station). See Butler’s Hut and the old school for FREE.
• 3pm: FREE PHOTO EXPEDITION led by renowned island photographer CLAUDIA GABER. Meet at the MI History and Craft Centre. Walk up to the Hawkings Point lookout for 3600 views. 1.5 hour round-trip, moderate fitness required. Great for families with kids.
ARCADIA
From the ferry terminal, enjoy the 15-minute walk on the cliff edge on our new GABUL WALKWAY or take a short FREE bus ride.

• Stroll out the north side of Geoffrey Bay to Bremner Point to feed the ROCK WALLABIES and the FISH in the marine park.
• 9.30am and 2.30pm: SNORKEL TRAIL GUIDED TOURS by Robin Cummings at our Geoffrey Bay Snorkel Trail. Snorkel gear hire available at PLEASURE DIVERS opposite the trail. Come and see our giant clams and the WWII propeller 50 metres off the last buoy.
• 10am - 4pm: OPEN DAY LAWN BOWLS at the Magnetic Island Bowls Club in Arcadia. Take the FREE Horseshoe Bay bus.
• 11am - 1.30pm: TOBMI $2 SAUSAGE SIZZLE on shady Geoffrey Bay foreshore at Arcadia.
• 11.30am - 2.30pm: HOTEL ARCADIA FAMILY LUNCH DEAL.
2 adults and 2 children (<15) for only $30.00 with the choice of steak, fish or chicken schnitzel with salad and chips (vegies option), pizzas, big sandwiches, or adults $10.00 each and children $5.00 each.
• 2pm: Watch and bet on the famous TOAD RACES at Hotel Arcadia.
• 2.30pm - 4pm: Stroll through to our picturesque RSL Memorial Hall for AFTERNOON TEA ($4 donation) and the bar will be open.

• 10am and 1pm: MILITARY TOUR FREE guided tours at The Forts by military historian David Pierce. After the 1pm tour a FREE bus will go to our RSL for Afternoon Tea ($4 donation) and the bar will be open.

• 11.30am - late: BAREFOOT ART FOOD & WINE, (Winner of Best Restaurant in the Townsville area two years in a row,) offers a $20 two-course lunch that includes a glass of wine or basic beer.
• VISIT THE STUNNING HORSESHOE BAY BEACH and foreshore. Hire a JET SKI from Arne 0428 157 112 at the Horseshoe Bay boat ramp and zoom over the waves. Take a tube ride, waterski, wakeboard or sail a catamaran from Horseshoe Bay WATER SPORTS 0448 581 330 beside the ramp, or take a Magnetic Island SEA KAYAK 4778 5424 morning or sunset tour for tranquil turtle spotting, viewing birds, coral gardens and seagrass beds.
