On Saturday 6 August the Magnetic Island Film Society feature 'How I Ended This Summer'. At a remote weather station in the far north-east corner of Russia it's summer, but still bitterly cold. This isolated, lonely and dangerous place is temporary home for veteran meteorologist Sergei, SERGEI PUSKEPALIS, and his student assistant, Pavel, GRIGORY DOBRYGIN. Their only link to the outside world is a two-way radio. This magnificent film is the third feature from young Russian director Alexei Popogrebsky, who is clearly a major talent, able to tell a story almost entirely through visual means. A deserved prizewinner at last year's Berlin film festival 'At The Movies' Review: Margaret Pomeranz 4 stars, David Straton 4.5 stars.
