All Magnetic Island residents and visitors can join Earth Hour and show their support for saving the Great Barrier Reef by turning off all lights for one hour at 8.30pm on Saturday 29 March. Prior to that, Channel 10 are screening an Earth Hour documentary Lights Out For the Reef at 4.30pm.
Or to be part of a bigger gathering head down to The Strand at 3pm for the Townsville Earth Hour and Resilience Expo that will bring together different organisations and business to showcase the actions people in Townsville can undertake to go beyond the hour and build resilience in the community. The event will culminate in a public screening of the Lights Out For the Reef documentary. People are encouraged to come down and set up a picnic rug to enjoy the public screening.
