Magnetic Island Marine Shorts - August 2025
Call for entries.
Have you made a short film with spectacular underwater imagery that you don't know what to do with?
MICDA is hosting a marine-themed short film showcase in August. We're looking for short films to screen alongside a film by snorkeldownunder.
All shorts must:
• Be no more than 5 minutes duration, including credits.
• Feature the marine environment from Magnetic Island and/or the Townsville Region (offshore reefs and mainland costal environments are fine but programming priority will be given to films set closest to Maggie. (Reefs accessed from Cairns or Whitsundays do not count!)
• Be an mp4 file, in 16:9 format and either 1080p or 4k resolution (no 8k please).
• Copyright of the materials in the film must be held by the filmmaker and appropriate permission obtained from persons appearing in the film.
• Films can be of any genre as long as they feature our incredible local underwater world.
The final selection of films will be influenced by scheduling, to show off as much of your work as possible so shorter films are appreciated.
