Magnetic Island has been selected as one of four key locations for the 'Healthy Habitats' project facilitated by NQ Dry Tropics. This project will take place over the next four years and aims to work with communities to strengthen local capacity for protecting biodiversity. This will include:
• Community education activities
• On-the-ground events working with residents to address land management issues (such as weeds and pests)
• Facilitate networks and partnerships between community members and groups
Our first Magnetic Island event will be taking place on Wednesday 7 May. This free community workshop will discuss 'land management planning' providing information and advice to residents on how to effectively plan and mange issues such as weeds and pests. It will also provide an opportunity for you to gain more information about the project, provide feedback and show you how you can become involved.
